CJNSER

Our latest issue of CJNSER is out!

We are pleased to present issue 15(1) of the Canadian Journal of Nonprofit and Social Economy Research (CJNSER). This issue focuses on innovation—where it’s being used and where it’s need—in effecting change for communities, non-profits, and the social economy.
The research included within shows where innovation has been used and the results—in a student social innovation organization in Pakistan; for disenfranchised Canadian populations in work integration social enterprises (WISE) in Ontario; and by policy innovation labs (PIL) promoting co-design and co-experience on social media. Our authors also make recommendations on where innovation is needed, including calls for a new partnership model between the Canadian state and nonprofit sectors, increased collectivity among grant-making foundations to foster systemic change, and in the application of discourse analysis to the relationship between social innovation and resource distribution.
Additionally, we present field perspectives on heritage communities in Italy and the embrace of complexity in a Western Canadian agricultural organization to develop and sustain circular economy initiatives, as well as a book review of D.W. Livingstone’s Tipping Point for Advanced Capitalism.
We hope you are as inspired by the authors’ findings as we have been.

The Canadian Journal of Nonprofit and Social Economy Research / Revue canadienne de recherche sur les OSBL et l’économie sociale (CJNSER) is an online open access English and French peer-review publication. CJNSER is dedicated to providing a stimulating and vibrant forum for the open dissemination of contemporary high-quality, peer-reviewed research on nonprofits and the social economy.

CJNSER welcomes a wide range of original submissions in English or French that focus on nonprofit organizations (NPO) and the social economy.

The intention of CJNSER is to contribute to extending and linking the value of nonprofit and social economy research relationships across Canada and throughout the world. CJNSER is multi-disciplinary, as well as interdisciplinary. High quality theoretically based, empirically grounded research and applied research from different perspectives is welcome to further the frontiers between theory and practice.
